Five materials in the Copco range, and what each is for

Most storage that disappoints is a good material in the wrong spot. Bamboo in a damp under-sink cabinet swells; steel where a lid rattles is a percussion section. Copco uses five materials, and the table below is the shortest honest guide to which belongs where.

BPA-free plastic

The workhorse: turntables, risers, bins and the Acadia mug are moulded from it. Light enough to lift loaded, smooth enough to wipe in one pass, and it shrugs off the detergent air under a sink.

Tritan

The clear plastic in the Hydra and ClipGo bottles. It resists cracking when dropped and stays glass-clear through the dishwasher, which is why you can read the water level from across the room.

Bamboo

The warm option for open shelves and drawers: lazy susans, expandable trays, bag organizers. It likes dry rooms and a wipe rather than a soak.

Stainless steel

The grinder, the scoop, the shears and the double-wall mug. Steel goes where heat, an edge or a decade of daily use would tire anything softer.

Beechwood and bristle

The hand brush, the duster and the dustpan set. Wood handles, natural bristles, a leather loop to hang them by: the tools you leave in sight on purpose.

Nothing in Copco standards is asked to work in two places at once, which is why the material sits on the card next to the size.
